Lethal Shots

Maintainence today, possibly even a patch even (conflicting sources, unable to verify either). Either way, another week has gone by. My thoughts on it:

• Not much raiding over the last week. Just the weekly three times and one venture into ICC as a healer, which did not end well. Two of the three healers on the run were alts (mine and another Hunter) and neither of us were really prepared for how healing intensive the Marrowgar encounter is.
• Randoms every day. Honestly I’m getting a little tired of them. It has gotten a little better since I cut back to one random a day per 80 (unless a guildie needs help of course).
• I jumped back into leveling my Paladin over the weekend. Decided to re-spec him to Prot, picked up a shield and one-hander off the AH, and jumped into the queue for low level randoms. So far it’s going pretty well. The XP is nice and I’ve already picked up several blues that are more suited to tanking.
• While my gear says I can heal in ICC, the above mentioned experience tells me otherwise. I need to work on my technique and maybe rework some gems and enchants. Some research will help with itemization problems, but the technique is going to be more difficult. Outside of raids, the best practice is going to be Heroic Halls of Reflection.
• I’ve been tanking heroics for about a month now and feel I have developed a pretty solid grasp on it. Now I want to move on to raids. I know it will be much more difficult, but I need to do it for the challenge.
• Back in real life, the wife and I took the kids out on a local Geocaching adventure yesterday. While the baby didn’t get much out of it (he slept the whole time), my four year old had the time of his life. It is definitely something we are going to have to do more often.
• Been playing with specs on my Hunter lately. Been specced Survival so long I can play it in my sleep. Now I’m trying to wrap my head around Marks.

Man, it’s been over a month since i last posted anything. And to be honest I have missed it. Real life has been keeping me real busy lately. Between work, chores around the house, and taking care of the pregnant wife (more on that later) my free time has been pretty limited. But I think I have finally caught up and should be able to devote some much needed attention to the blog.

But anyway, what have I been up to the last month? A lot. Previously mentioned work and chores around the house mostly, but you guys don’t care about that. In WoW though I have been raiding (a little), leveling alts, working the AH (more on that later), and adjusting to new officer’s duties in my “alt guild” (a lot more on that later).

Also, you’ll likely see some changes in the blog over time. Not only looks, but in content. Part of what has kept me from posting for an extended period is that I have not been focusing solely on my Hunter. Since my Shaman has hit 80, he has been getting tons of play time. That, coupled with the huge interest I have taken in the AH lately, means that the focus of this blog will change to encompass everything I am doing in the game.

While I hope these changes don’t alienate any of my readers, ultimately I blog for my own enjoyment. So while I hope everyone decides to stick around, I will understand if some of you who want straight Hunter info move on.

While we endure another round of maintenance, here are a few of my insights to get you through.

• I’m home from vacation at last. Florida was nice, but I missed the (relative) peace and quit of my own home. And my bed. I missed my bed the most. I hate sleeping on someone else’s bed. Even if it is comfortable. Yes, it is all in my head.
• More maintenance today. I don’t have a clue whether another patch is coming or not. I really need to catch up on things.
• I am so close to 80 on my Shaman. This has prompted me to start researching gear for him. If anyone knows a good guide for gearing a fresh 80 Resto Shaman leave a link in the comments. I want to get him in heroics as fast as possible.
• Now that I am back at work, Tuesday morning downtime doesn’t bother me as much.
• The Survival shot rotation got a little more complex in 3.1, more on that later.
• I’m trying to decide what alt to level next. My Death Knight is sitting at 60, but I really suck at playing him. But all my other alts are in their 20s. I’m leaning towards working on my Paladin, since he just got to where he is fun to play. Plus I already bought the heirloom shoulders for him.
• Of course those shoulders could just as easily be used on my Death Knight. Decisions…..

Well, that’s all I got on my mind today.

What’s on my mind?

• Extended maintenance today. Some people think 3.1 is dropping. I hope it doesn’t until next week though.
• I’m leaving for my vacation tomorrow. That means no raiding until next month, and things around the blog will be pretty quiet.
• Since I won’t be raiding while on vacation, I plan to spend my WoW time leveling alts and working on professions.
• I’m already falling behind on the 31DBBB challenge. Between being swamped at work trying to take care of everything so I can leave and packing and cleaning at home I just haven’t had much free time.
• I haven’t been raiding much lately, mostly because 10-man Naxx has nothing for me, so I have been bowing out to let other people go and get geared.
• I’m as pissed as everyone else that 10-man Ulduar is getting the shaft gear and emblem wise. Just because we don’t have as many people doesn’t mean we don’t deserve comparable gear.
• I’ve been playing with the DPS spreadsheet from Elitist Jerks. I think I’m starting to get the hang of using it.

Well, I missed last week. Guess I wasn’t thinking much. But I am this week:

• VACATION!!! In exactly one week I head off to Florida for two weeks on the beach. I can’t wait.
• Raiding is a little hit and miss lately. A lot of real life stuff is going on putting raiding on the back burner.
• Not much progress on the Shaman lately. Just haven’t been in the mood to level.
• I’m thinking about dropping mining on the Shaman and taking up either Herbalism or Alchemy, and then having my Death Knight take the other. What prompted this? Flasks and elixirs are so way overpriced. Might as well make them myself.
• I signed up for the “31 Days to Build a Better Blog” program that ProBlogger is putting on. Expect yesterdays assignment to be up today. Probably stick to that schedule, posting my result for each assignment the following day.
• I’m liking my Hunting Tactics series so far. It’s a lot of fun to write.
• No patch today. My guess is next week.
