Pre-Wrath Checklist: Revisited
by Santyn on Nov.13, 2008, under Random
A while back I wrote up and discussed my Pre-Wrath Checklist. While sitting here waiting on Wrath to install and patch up to 3.0.3, I figured it was a good time to take another look at it and see how I did. Here is an updated version of it:
- Acquire Nether Ray
- Acquire Nether Drake
- Max Engineering
- Max Fishing
- Make Turbo-Charged Flying Machine
- Level Shaman alt to 70
- Build back up gold reserve
- Become Karazhan attuned
As you can see, I completed all but one of my goals. Even though my Shaman didn’t make 70 yet, he is parked in the inn at Honor Hold ready to take off leveling in Outland. I have no idea when I will get back to playing him honestly. More than likely he will sit in the inn until Santyn is level capped.
Well, it looks like Wrath is almost done patching, so I better wrap this up and get started. See you in Northrend.
I’m Still Breathing…..

Sorry for the complete lack of updates for the last week or so. I have been pretty busy both in WoW and real life, and as a consequence the blog got neglected. Never fear though, I am back now, and to start things off I’ll give a quick update on what I’ve been up to.
First off, a real life diversion. Last weekend I went to an air show being held at a nearby Air Force base and watched the Thunderbirds perform. Combine their show with some incredible aerial acrobatics done by other performers, and it was a great way to spend a Saturday.
Anyway, back to WoW. I spent the better part of my playtime last week grinding Netherwing rep and leveling Santen. It paid off and Friday night I hit exalted with the Netherwing and got myself a shiny new Nether Drake. (Don’t let me forget to post some pictures later.) Real life kept me pretty busy over the weekend, meaning I spent very little time playing. But Sunday night, I managed to get some time to log on and was promptly invited to a Karazhan run by a former guildie. His guild was wanting to down the later bosses in Kara, but were 1 DPS short, and I just happened to log in at just the right time.
It was a great run, and I got to see some content I had never seen before. We 1 shot Ilhoof, completed the Chess Event, 2 shot Prince, and 1 shot Netherspite. No hunter loot dropped, but I did manage to snag 9 badges. Altogether it was a fun run, and I do believe I scored myself a possible invite back at a later date, if I’m not tied to a run with my own guild that is.
Well, that about sums up the last week in the life of Santyn. I am getting over my latest bout of writer’s block, so check back soon.
Pre-Wrath Checklist

With the release of WotLK right around the corner, its time to wrap up loose ends and get ready for the new level grind in Northrend. A while back I put together a list of things I want to get done before Northrend opens up. With the announcement of the official Wrath release date, We are now on a definite timeline. Knowing that, I felt it was time to revisit my list and see what I have accomplished and prioritize what I have left.
- Acquire Nether Ray
- Acquire Nether Drake
- Max Engineering
- Max Fishing
- Make Turbo-Charged Flying Machine
- Level Shaman alt to 70
- Build back up gold reserve
- Become Karazhan attuned
I have crossed out things I have accomplished so far, and as you can see I have several left to do. I am confident Karazhan attunement will happen. I am almost done, my next step leading into Black Morass. I am about 25% of the way through Revered with the Netherwing, so I will most likely have a Nether Drake soon. I have about 10 points to go and my fishing will be at 375. And as to building my bank account back up, that one is hard to predict. Finishing the Netherwing grind will help. And having maxed Engineering, I can now sell all the ore that I mine. I can’t say how much I will have by Wrath, but I will do the best I can.
Now the one thing on my list that I am unsure about is my Shaman. I am not a fast leveler in the least, which makes me highly doubt he will be 70 in time. Realistically, I think I will have him in Outland.
I don’t plan to put everything else on hold to complete my goals. I still plan to raid when I can, and help guild mates when they need it. When wrath hits, I will have to revisit my list and see how I did.

Made another trip to Karazhan Thursday night with my guild’s fledgling second raid group. We were only able to get one tank for the evening, so we only went in to down the Huntsman. All went well and we one-shotted him. Cheers were cheered and loot was had. That night, he decided to drop Stalker’s War Bands and Gloves of Dexterous Manipulation.
The War Bands were a definite upgrade for me, so I called out that I needed them. No else needed them, so I was awarded them by default. (Indecently, my poor DKP is so far negative now that it isn’t even funny.) Now we were left with deciding what to do with the gloves. No one needed them, so it was down to letting someone have them for a side-grade or Dis-Enchanting them. And it so happened that they were a side-grade for me. The gloves gave me a Attack Power boost at the cost of some health and Crit Rating. And being the wonderfully nice people that my guild mates are, they gave them to me at no DKP cost. That right there is why I love my guild and have no intention of leaving them.
Buy anyway. So here i am with only 45 minutes spent in Kara and walk out with 2 pieces of loot. Does it get any better? To make the most of these 2 pieces, I had a guild mate put a Savagery enchant on the both of them, which puts me at just over 1500 AP with Aspect of the Hawk on.
Raiding is good.
Gift from the Huntsman

I went on another Karazhan run with my guild last night. We had a mixture of experienced raiders and some newer raiders. (I like to think I am somewhere in the middle of those classifications.) Since it was the guild’s first Kara run of the week, we started out with Attumen the Huntsman. It went pretty good, and we downed him on the first try. And lucky for me, he dropped the Worgen Claw Necklace. Since the other hunter in the raid didn’t need it, I got it by default.
Once we got done with Attumen, we decided to head on to Moroes. Trash clearing went pretty good, no more than a few random deaths. And then came Moroes. It was not pretty. We wiped 3 times before we managed to down him. It might have gone better if we had 3 healers on the run, but we made do. Crowd Control was also an issue. Moroes’s dinner guests are terrible about resisting traps.
But we stuck with it, and on the fourth try, we downed him. Pay no attention that our main tank and both healers were dead before Moroes went down (lucky our second tank was a pally and could heal himself). We called it a night after that.
Overall I thought it was a good run. I was pleased with my performance, and look forward to my next foray into Karazhan.
