A Matching Set
by Santyn on Mar.13, 2009, under Gear, Raiding
As my ventures in Naxx have continued, I haven’t seen much in the way of gear upgrades. This week that has changed though. Wednesday night Noth was nice enough to drop the Trespasser’s Boots, allowing me to finally get rid of my old blue boots, leaving my with a ring and trinket away from being fully “Epic-ed” out.
Last night was the big score though. The token dropped for T7 pants and I managed to win the roll. With that in hand I was finally able to snag my 4th piece of T7. All together I have the shoulders, chest, legs, and gloves, with the gloves being the only piece that is Valorous.
Now this leave me with some testing to do. Sure, tier pieces are nice and all, but do they offer the best stat choices for me. To equip them I will lose a considerable amount of +hit and crit, both of which are crucial to my current build. The +hit I can make up by swapping out a few other pieces, but the crit is going to hurt. I will have to do some testing at the target dummy to see if the extra AP and set bonuses provide more DPS than what I am currently wearing.
As a side note, this is why I rarely get rid of any piece of gear. Stat stacking is all about balance. Upgrading one piece may mean that you need to swap out other pieces to maintain the balance. Once you have an item and have gemmed and enchanted it, make sure to hang on to it because you just might need it later.
Naxx Round 2 – TKO
by Santyn on Mar.03, 2009, under Raiding
I went with a guild group into Naxx 10 last week and cleared the place out. We started Wednesday night and hammered out three quarters. Came back Thursday and cleared the last quarter and the frost wyrm. We attempted Kel’Thezud several times, but just could not get it down. But we’re persistent and came back Friday night and mopped the floor with him. It seemed to go pretty smoothly, so I am blaming our failure the previous night to it being late and people being tired.
My reward for all of this was somewhat bittersweet. I bid farewell to my Nesingway 4000 and replaced it with the wonderful Nerubian Conquerer. It’s a pretty solid upgrade for me, and being the only Hunter in the raid it was defaulted to me. The Nesingway wins hands down on cool factor, but hey, stats is stats.
I’m looking forward to going back. I still need some upgrades from there, plus it’s a hell of a lot of fun. But for now I am spending my time in between working on alts and grinding rep for my shoulder enchant.
Now if the guild can just get past Patchwerk on heoric, we would be set. I don’t think it is a question of gear or DPS. What is giving us problems is the Hateful Strikes. A little more coordination between the healers, tanks, and melee DPS and I think we’ll have it. As they say, Practice Makes Perfect.
Tuesday Thoughts
by Santyn on Feb.10, 2009, under Tuesday Thoughts
Another week, another patch. Here’s what I’ve been thinking.
- Not much posting happening this week. Work has me in a class all week, meaning no access to PC at work and longer hours (due to driving to and from class) means not much post time in the evenings.
- 3.0.9 hit servers today, and I can finally spec back to BM.
- Yeah, BM is supposed to be viable again, but I am actually having fun as a Survival. WTB dual specs so I don’t have to decide.
- Got a nice helm from 25-man OS Sunday. Better stats than my Engineering goggles, but it is ugly as all hell. No other helm in the game beats the cool factor of the goggles.
- The Shaman finally hit 68 over the weekend. He is now leveling in Northrend until he hits 70, at which he will go back to Outland to train flying and finish leveling Mining to 350.
So what’s on your mind today?
I Got a Bonus
by Santyn on Jan.28, 2009, under Gear, Hunter
Tier 7 bonus that is.
That’s right, last night I managed to snag myself a new pair of gloves, the Heros’s Cryptstalker Handguards. And unlike my T7 chest piece that I bought with emblems, I got this one from a legit Obsidian Sanctum raid with my guild last night.
Which gives me that sweet, sweet 2 piece bonus.
During the same run I also snagged a Crimson Steel, which I have paired up with a Fang of Truth. Not the best option Attack Power wise, but this combo puts me at 8.30% +hit.
Now tonight I get to gem and enchant my 2 new pieces of gear and then hit the target dummies to see how I do. I might also take the time to play with different specs. More on that later.
Resident WoW: Part 2
by Santyn on Nov.04, 2008, under World Events
The plague may have been cured, but the Scourge invasion was far from over. With the appearance of Necropolises over capital cities and active Scourge attacks on zones throughout Azeroth, the Argent Dawn has came out in full force for our defense. And to help them in their efforts, they have enlisted the help of the many adventurers throughout the land, both Horde and Alliance. Naturally, Santyn answered the call.
And what was he rewarded for his effort? Phat lewtz of course! Here’s a few poses of me with my new gear:
Really, it is a gorgous set of gear, and believe it or not was an upgrade for me. (Sad, I know.) For completion sake I also purchased all the available trinkets. Here’s a list of everything I obtained:
- Blessed Handguards of Undead Slaying
- Blessed Pauldrons of Undead Slaying
- Blessed Greaves of Undead Slaying
- Blessed Hauberk of Undead Slaying
- Tabard of the Argent Dawn
- Argent Dawn Banner
- Argent Tome
- Argent War Horn
Also a side bonus to the event was an insane amount of easily obtained Argent Dawn rep. Useless, I know, but it is nice to be liked by another faction.
