I went to Drak’Tharon Keep with some guildies last night for the first time and had a blast. I also had a few quest in there, but more on that in a bit. It wasn’t a flawless run, but we cleared it. We went in with a Paladin (PUG tank), a Priest, a Warlock, a Mage, and a Hunter (me of course).

The run started off shaky when we mostly wiped because the tank ran out of the healer’s line of sight . I say mostly wiped because I was able to Feign Death and stay alive. I started to have a few doubts at that point, but he shaped up and we moved on.

Moved through the first two bosses with nothing really of note. They were both one-shot, loot was had, a quest was completed and follow up taken, nothing real exciting.

Where it got good was on the third boss, Kind Dred. Think Devilsaur on steroids. This guy was huge. And I owned his ass. Something happened, not sure what, but the tank died at around 40%. Well, us DPS don’t go down without a fight. We kept hammering away on him. Lucky for me I had Feigned Death before the tank died, so I was low on the aggro list. I immediately turned Growl on, slapped Bestial Wrath (recently off cooldown), and Misdirected onto my pet, Doing everything I could to get him to the top of the threat meter. Sadly I wasn’t fast enough and both the clothie DPS and the Priest died also, but props to the Mage and Warlock. They put up a good showing before falling to the King and we had him down to around 10% before they went down.

At this point it was all or nothing. I had my pet above me on Aggro, so I was safe for the moment, and the Priest was present in his Spirit Healer form going like mad keeping my little wasp alive. I started popping every cooldown, mashing every ability I had. Damn mana efficiency.

And the King went down.

It was epic. Quite literally the most epic thing I have done in this game ever. Mad props to the Priest for the heals, but for all practical purposes I soloed the last 10% of a dungeon boss only four levels below me. In quest greens and blues.

Truly Epic.

Anyway, on to the twisted part of the run. In Grizzly Hills, there is a quest chain that starts with a troll prisoner who ask for your help and ends with Cleansing Drak’Tharon. After downing the last boss (which we also one-shot) you go up to the alter there and summon Drakuru. He then in turn summons….

The Lich King. Arthas himself.

Turns out the little jerk was using you to gain favor in the eyes of Arthas. Luckily the little jerk speaks on your behalf, saving you from a painful death.

Turns out while you thought you were doing some good by fighting against hostile Troll tribes, you were really being used to feed souls into Arthas’s army. Talk about twisted. I felt so used.

I really had a blast on the run last night, And I can’t wait until I come back to tackle it at the Heroic level.
