Cross Faction Comraderie
by Santyn on Nov.28, 2008, under Hunter
I had a wonderful experience the other day while questing in Dragonblight. It involved a Elite spawned from a 3-man quest, a Horde Hunter, and me.
The quest was Wanton Warlord, and involves killing Grom’thar the Thunderbringer, a 74 Elite with 123k health. Being the cocky hunter that I am, I decided to see if I could solo him. When I got to the spawn area, he was already engaged, so I promptly jumped on him too to help out.
Turns out a Blood Elf Hunter was attempting to solo him. Needless to say, with the both of us on him, he was dead in no time. The Hordie hit me with a /thank and I cordially sent a /bow back.
Then the unexpected happened. While I was prepping for my turn at the fight, the Blood Elf sat down and started drinking. Once ready, I summoned the mob and sent in the Gorilladin. And so did the Hordie. He stayed around for the explicit purpose of helping me out. It was great.
Now I don’t if he helped me simply because I helped him, or if he saw some sort of cross faction comraderie in another Hunter. All I know is that it was awesome. I have run into some real ass-hats in the game, but it is guys like this that help me remember that the world is not full of them.
Moral of the story? Karma. Help people out. No matter what faction. If you are questing in the same area as other people, group up instead of competing. Wait your turn for quest spawns. Help other players out when they are trying to down an elite. Buff anyone you come across. Cause you never know when you will need help.

Ding 77….
by Santyn on Nov.28, 2008, under Hunter, Random
…Almost.
I know I haven’t posted lately, but to be honest I don’t have a whole lot to talk about. I’ve been leveling like crazy and as of this morning I am 80% of the way to 77. Sadly, I had to log off to take the wife shopping.
On a side note: Fuck Black Friday. People go absolutely nuts for no reason. A Wal-Mart employee in New York was trampled to death today by crazed shoppers. Why? So they could save five bucks on some shitty toy. Locally, several stores were forced to call the cops because the complete lack of civility by holiday shoppers.
Anyway, sorry for that little rant.
I did manage to convince the wife to hold off until after lunch to avoid the huge crowds. So here I am, some shopping done, so we are taking a break at the coffee shop before we finish up. I figured now was a good time to give a little update.
- Wrathgate – Epic questline. Simply a must do.
- Werewolves in Grizzly Hills – Don’t know the lore behind it, but still cool.
- Dailies – I love having all these dailies to do while leveling. Easy money and rep without having to wait until the level cap.
- Valiance Expedition – Hit Exalted with them this morning. That is one rep grind I won’t have to do later.
- Questing – I love how Blizzard has set up quest hubs in Wrath. If you do it right, you have very little wasted running around.
If you have any thoughts, or maybe if you just miss me, leave me a comment.
How to Play a Death Knight
by Santyn on Nov.24, 2008, under DeathKnight, Guide
Quaklain over at the The Stoppable Force has wrote a pretty good beginners guide to playing a Death Knight. I have been looking for a good Death Knight primer since I first wrote about my Death Knight experience. If you are interested in trying the class out (and who isn’t), swing over there and check it out.
Just a Little OP
by Santyn on Nov.23, 2008, under Hunter
I know I should probably just keep my mouth shut lest I draw upon Hunters the Wrath of the Nerf Bat, but I do feel just a little over-powered. I am easily soloing elites that are at my level or slightly lower, soloing 3 man quests that are yellow for me, and the only time that I have died is when I was swimming and forgot to come up for air. Now don’t get me wrong, I love it. Questing is always more fun when you don’t die.
As of this writing, I am about halfway through 74. I started in Borean Tundra, quested until i got the quest achievement there, and then moved to Howling Fjord and did the same. I have now moved into Dragonblight and started there.
I am looking forward to tackling some higher level content to see if I still feel somewhat OP. If you have any thoughts leave me a comment, especially if you have some insight on different classes.
New Look
by Santyn on Nov.21, 2008, under Site News
In case you didn’t notice, I changed the look of the blog last night. I was kind of tired of the old theme so I spent some time over the last week finding one I liked and then getting the banner put together. Bear with me, I am nowhere near a pro at graphic editing, but I thought it turned out pretty good. If you see anything that could use some tweaking, or you just think it looks good, leave me a comment.
